By amputees. For amputees.

Amp'd connects you to the limb loss/difference community directly. Whether you're looking to learn, become an advocate for others, or speak directly with your peers, Amp'd has the tools and services to help you achieve your goals.

WHAT AMP'D IS

FROM TWO PEOPLE TALKING ...

Amp'd started when two people with limb loss - Peggy, a below-knee amputee, and Dave, an above-knee amputee - started talking about their respective experiences. Despite their different gender, age, and level of amputation, they realized that the issues limb loss forced them to confront were largely the same. Their reactions reflected different experiences and worldviews, leading them to create Amp'd: The Podcast for People with Limb Loss. They began recording together in 2012 and launched the Amp'd website in 2018. Full of tools and information for the limb loss/ difference community along with the Amp'd weekly podcast, Amp'd is now the go-to source for amputees.

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide people with limb loss/difference resources that allow them to live to their fullest potential.

TO A COMMUNITY TAKING ACTION....

Amp'd provides its members detailed information about how different federal and state proposals affect the limb loss/difference community. In 2017, Amp'd issued 9 "Calls to Action," 7 of which focused on proposed changes to U.S. health laws. Amp'd Activists from around the country visited, called, and wrote to their members of Congress to educate them about the impact proposed changes could have on the community. Speaking with a united voice, Amp'd Activists have put legislators on notice that we are a community whose views must be taken into consideration: "nothing about us without us."

ACTIVISM

In the rapidly-changing world of healthcare, we must continually educate legislators about how proposed changes affect both whether and how you receive prosthetic care. When these situations arise, rapid and unified mobilization of the amputee community is essential. Amp'd Activists make their voices heard by responding to Calls to Action.

Not sure how to become an effective advocate? Our Amp'd Activist Tool shows you how to communicate with legislators so that you can deliver your message comfortably and effectively.

COMMUNITY

Would you like to speak directly with other Amp'd Army members? Looking to network with peers who may be able to help you? Want to offer your opinion and share your experience with others? Join the Amp'd Army's online community.

In addition, we believe that in order to serve the limb loss/difference community, we need to be open about what we are doing. That's why we regularly publish reports so you can hold us accountable for what we do.
